What Would You Burn?

Interests:

In this Y.E.S. class we will be creating various works of art by burning logos, monograms, family names, Christmas stencils, and many more into tree trunk slabs. Geared toward 7th and 8th graders, this is a very safe and exciting activity that is fun to so. These can be great coffee table pieces, signs, man cave, and Christmas gifts for friends and family.  We will be learning how to sand, stencil, burn, poly, and make customs designs through the use of Wood Burning Tools & Pyrography Pens. This is a great way to learn how to create a simple piece of art that will last a lifetime and will be the centerpiece of conversations in the room.  Integrating the use of technology of graphic and stencil design, incorporating a 200 year old art form, and the use of modern tools. We will have a broad experience of how to create and design these pieces.  Teaching students a step by step process of how to cut the correct type of wood, sand the wood with sanding block, create a design for the wood, producing a stencil, burning the logo design, and polyurethane select pieces will create a sense of satisfaction for a patient process.
