Love where you live! Find out what makes Spartanburg “Sparkle City”. We will take a walking tour of downtown with city planner Natalie Rosario. She will point out all of the things that make Spartanburg work. We will tour the police station and visit with the parks department. We will check out recreational areas downtown and have a picnic lunch.
Students will lend their voices to the city’s comprehensive plan. They will provide input to city officials as to what they would like Spartanburg to look like in the next 25 years. When in the classroom they will be researching cities around the world to understand what makes cities work. Students will work in groups to plan their ideal city. They will create a poster of their idea city to share during the presentation of learning.
Guest speakers will include an architect and a city government official. We will also have someone speak to the class about services offered to help our residents in need.
